Genevieve Campbell, 94, of Leon passed away suddenly March 2, 2010, at Pleasant
Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born August 16, 1915, in Leon, a daughter of the late Abraham and Sylvia
Lee (Sayre) Baker. She was also preceded in death by her son, Dorsel Lee
Campbell; brothers Harold, Curtis and Russell Baker; and sister Irene
Whittington.
She was a homemaker, attended the Creston and Mount Tabor Churches, and was very
active in community affairs. She enjoyed making quilts, and had made
hundreds of quilts for families all over the United States.
Surviving are her children that she raised as a single mom, Dorsey Campbell and
Dallas Campbell, both of Leon, Dencil Campbell of Gallipolis, OH, and Tommy
Campbell of Cottageville; daughters Carolyn McCoy of Syracuse, OH, and Betty
Morrison of Leon; sister Ruby Donohew of Evans; 11 grandchildren; and 14
great-grandchildren.
Service will be at 1 p.m. Friday, March 5, at Casto Funeral Home, Evans.
Burial will follow in the Creston Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday, March 4, at the funeral
home. My condolences to her family. I remember
Genevieve well. She was a loving mother and friend to all who knew her.
I am including on Art’s List History Pages the short biographies of people who were born in West Virginia or who have lived a significant part of their lives in West Virginia and have made a difference. They do not have to be famous people, maybe it was your neighbor or your great Aunt Martha. Do you know someone who should be included in our
History Page send me their names and I will publish them. Click on this link to send me an email with your names.

YOU WILL BE CHARGED FOR THESE CALLS To prevent this, call the following number
from your cell phone: 888-382-1222 It is the National DO NOT CALL list. It
blocks your number for five (5) years. You must call from the cell phone number
you want to have blocked. You cannot call from a different phone number.

Books of Interest
My sister, Wink,
sent me a copy of the
THRESH MACHINE A COMIN
by
Audrey Sayre
Hartley.
It is a wonderful book and brought back
many memories of Cow
Run. Linda Murdock
has a wonderful series
of books on births,
marriages, and deaths,
transcribed form the
Jackson County Court
House Records.
Check out the other
books the
Jackson
County Library
has available. I
highly recommend a
series of books on Mason
County Cemeteries
available from the
Meigs County, Ohio Pioneer and
Historical Society
They have several other books on Mason
County, West Virginia.
