Obituary
Gladys Lucille McIntyre, 81, of Cottageville, WV, departed this life suddenly at her home, November 4, 2002.
She was born May 26, 1921 on Cow Run, a daughter of the late Hosea Jackson and Nancy Cathrine (Sayre) Shinn.
She was an active fund raising volunteer for the construction of Jackson General Hospital, a member of the Jackson County Democrats Club, and she was a homemaker. She was an active member of the Ripley Band Boosters for 17 years, and was very involved with a music ministry for nursing homes in Ripley and Ravenswood. She was co-owner and operator of McIntyre Welding in Ripley for more than 50 years, and was a former riveter for Martin Aircraft, Baltimore, MD, during WWII. She was the organizer for the Cow Run Days reunion for 19 years. She was a Christian, and ministered through her music at several local churches. Surviving are her daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley and Skip Hackworth, Dorma and Frank Hughes all of Cottageville, Marsha and Scott Goodrich of Millwood; brothers, Woodrow Shinn of McCutchenville, OH, Daniel Shinn of Nitro, Darrell
Shinn of Tiffin, OH, Arnold Shinn of Bluffton, OH; sisters, Naomi Sayre of Evans, Margaret Hill of Mount Alto, Clara Blanche Yentzer of Melbourne, FL; grandchildren, Matt Hackworth, Glen Hughes, Joshua Hughes, Georgia Hughes, Mary Goodrich, Andrew Goodrich; great granddaughter, Sadie Hackworth.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth G. McIntyre; brothers, Roy and Clark Lee; sister, Olive.
Service will be 1 p.m., Thursday, November 7, 2002, at Casto Funeral Home, Evans, WV, with the Rev. Gerald B. Sayre officiating. Burial will follow in the McIntyre Cemetery, Cottageville. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. | Gladys Lucille Shinn

Hosea J. Shinn, 81, of Cottageville, died at the Jackson General Hospital, Ripley, on Saturday, July 11, 1970.
Born April 8, 1889, in Cottageville, he was a son of the late George and Nancy Smith Shinn and was a retired farmer and stockman. He was a member of the Cow Run Church of God.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Sayre Shinn; five daughters, Mrs. Olive Campbell of Huntington, Mrs. Gladys McIntyre of Ripley, Mrs. Clara Blanche Yentzer of Sycamore, Ohio, Mrs. Naomi Sayre of Evans, and Mrs. Margaret Hill of Kenova; five sons, Roy of Cottageville, Woodrow of McCutcheonville, Ohio, Arnold of Bluffton, Ohio, Daniel of Nitro, and Darrell, of Keffin, Ohio. One son, Clark Lee, preceded him in death.
