    • H. Reub Sayre, 73, of Cottageville, Jackson County, died Aug. 17, 1998, in Memorial Division, CAMC, after a short illness.
      He was a retired maintenance mechanic for Keyser Aluminum, Ravenswood, and was retired from the Operating Engineers. He was a member of the United Steel Workers and attended Evergreen Freewill Baptist Church.
      Surviving: wife, Dorathy Wheeler Sayre; sons, Tim C. of Cottageville, Fred R. of Hurricane; brother, Jimmy "Butch" Sayre of Cottageville; sister, Joann West of Cottageville.
      Service will be 2 p.m. today at Evergreen Freewill Baptist Church with the Rev. Mark Price and the Rev. Gerald Sayre officiating. Burial will be in Jackson County Memorial Gardens, Cottageville. Casto Funeral Home, Evans, is in charge of arrangements.

    • Frederick Ray Sayre, 56, of Hurricane, formerly of Cottageville, WV, passed away suddenly January 1, 2014, at CAMC Teays Valley Hospital.
      He was born September 27, 1957 in Parkersburg, WV, a son of the late Herbert Reuben and Dorothy Virginia (Wheeler) Sayre.
      Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Kathleen Victoria (Harrison) Sayre; son, Reuben Sayre of Hurricane; daughters, Dorothy E. Bavle and her husband Brandon, of Cottageville, and Melissa Sayre of Huntington; brother, Tim C. and his wife Catherine Sayre of Ravenswood, and a nephew, Michael Sayre.
      He had an associate’s degree in industrial mechanics from Parkersburg Community College, and earned his bachelor’s degree in history from Marshall University. He was a member and merchant for the Society for Creative Anachronism medieval enactment group, and was the founder, and former owner and operator of F & F Trading in Norfolk, VA, and F & K Trading in Hurricane.
      Fred had a stern faith in God, was an avid outdoorsman, and enjoyed hunting. He was an expert of historical weaponry, a friend of Bill, and …. he had style.
      Service will be 7 p.m. Saturday, January 4, 2014, at Casto Funeral Home Chapel, Evans, WV, with Pastor Mark Price officiating. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until time of service. Committal service will be 10 a.m. Sunday, January 5, at Blaine Memorial Cemetery, Cottageville, WV.

      Reuben Harrison Sayre, 25, of Cottageville, WV, passed away January 9, 2019, due to injuries received in an automobile accident.
      He was born October 21, 1993, in Charleston, the son of Kathleen Victoria (Harrison) Sayre Jenkins of Hurricane, and the late Frederick Ray Sayre.
      Reuben was a graduate of Ravenswood High School where he was a member of the F.F.A. He held an associates degree in machining and was currently employed by Constellium, in the machinery department. He was a member of the United Steelworkers Union, Local 5668, a member of the S.C.A. and was a heavy weapons Marshall.
      In addition to his mother, other survivors include his sisters, Dorothy Bavle and Melissa Musgrave (Derek); uncle and aunt, Tim and Catherine Sayre and their son, Michael; nephew, Harrison Musgrave and his stepfather, Jim Jenkins.
      Service will be 7 p.m. Monday, January 14, 2019, at Casto Funeral Home, Evans, WV. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until time of service. Committal service and burial will be 12 noon Tuesday, at Blaine Memorial Cemetery Cottageville.
      In lieu of flowers, donations are preferred to the high school F.F.A. chapter of your choice.
